Library of Things Lending Policy

  1. All library patrons are required to check out and return Library of Things items to the Circulation Desk at the Granby Free Public Library. A valid C/WMARS Network card in good standing for at least 6 months is required. Borrowers of specialty items must be 18 years old or older, and must sign a copy of the Library of Things Lending Agreement. Patrons of any C/WMARS Library can request a Library of Things item, but items must be picked up and returned in Granby.

  2. While staff can provide a basic overview of items in the collection, by taking possession of any item, the patron is certifying that he or she is capable of using the item in a safe and appropriate manner. The Granby Free Public Library is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage that may occur from use of an item.

  3. Use care when handling the item. The borrower is solely responsible for the item and will be billed for reasonable repair or replacement costs associated with damage or loss of items and/or peripherals due to neglect or abuse.

  4. In most cases, an item may be borrowed for 3 week intervals and renewed 1 time unless another borrower is waiting.

  5. If items are not returned on time, the full replacement cost of the item will be added to the borrower’s account until the item is returned.

  6. Up to 3 Library of Things items can be checked out at one time.

  7. The responsibility to protect against loss is the borrower’s. Staff will inspect items upon return. Borrowers are expected to return the item with all parts and components in the original library container to the Circulation Desk of the library. Patrons will be responsible for any damage to an item while in their possession.

  8. The Library reserves the right to refuse the loan of any item at its discretion.
